Adding That Extra Regal Touch
Tiaras have been giving brides an elegant look for centuries and are now back in fashionBy Benedetta Lamanna
Tiaras have recently become a beautiful and popular accessory for brides. Originally created to accentuate the beauty of the woman wearing the tiara, the crowns are now generally viewed as symbols of elegance, love and glamour.
Today tiaras are made from virtually every material, including precious metals, crystals and pearls. Halo & Co.'s collection features an exquisite Princess tiara. The tiara is simple yet elegant, with a classic crystal teardrop and pearl design. Their Merla tiara is absolutely stunning and is suitable for the bride who wants a more dramatic look. The crown is a beautiful crystal and pearl piece that adds a very regal touch. For a simpler look, Halo & Co. features such smaller tiaras as Rena. This tiara is composed of a classic, feminine setting of crystal flowers set amongst magnificent crystal beads.
Private Label by G Canada also features some magnificent tiaras. Their 2-tiered plain edge tiara features beautiful scattered pearls around its edge. A similarly exquisite piece, a second 2-tiered plain edge tiara, which has a simple band-shape, adds a great touch to nearly any gown. The tiara is available in white/silver or ivory/gold.
Another collection with an extensive selection for ideas is Tiara Romance. An example is called the Cinderella tiara which is a 1 inch high crown that features classic, intricate crystals. For a more dramatic look, brides should consider the Diana and Cassandra crowns, which sit at 1.25 and 2 inches respectively. The Diana tiara features a stunning crystal beading pattern while the Cassandra is a marvelous gold-coloured item that features intricately placed crystal detailing.
Tiaras work well with any kind of hair, making them fairly easy to wear. However there are a few guidelines that brides should consider. Firstly, the bride should take into consideration how the tiara will work with her hairstyle. While tiaras work well with loose locks, they are most stunning when backed by an elegant updo. Brides should also make sure their tiaras complement their wedding veil, if they are planning to wear one. A larger tiara will likely look mismatched when paired with a shorter veil. Similarly, a large tiara can overpower a petite woman.
As for the placement of the tiara, brides should wear the crowns at a 45-degree angle, with the tiara set in the middle of the head. This provides a flattering frame for the face. Wearing the tiara too forward on the head makes it seem out of place and does not complement any face shape.
When shopping for tiaras, brides should try on the styles they like to see what works best. A tiara that seems ordinary in the display window can look absolutely stunning when a bride sees it paired with her gown. By trying tiaras on, brides can also see whether or not they will feel comfortable wearing one on their special day.
