Di Cicco's poetry explodes

Italian-Canadian poet's lyrics return after an absence

By

For a fifteen year period Pier Giorgio Di Cicco left the literary world. His leave began in 1986 and he re-emerged in 2001. After this hiatus he released " Living in Paradise." It is a book that contains his best works from the 70s and through the 80s. It also has some new poetry that is worth the read.
Di Cicco was born in Arezzo, Italy and had a Canadian and American upbringing. He was raised in Baltimore, Montreal, and Toronto, and he currently resides in the countryside north of Toronto. He is the author of over thirteen books of poems which includes "The Tough Romance", "Dancing in the House Of Cards" and "Virgin Science: Hunting Holistic Paradigms". He withdrew from the world of letters to join a monastery in 1986 and re-emerged in 2001 to publish Living in Paradise - New and Selected Poems with Mansfield Press.
In "Living in Paradise", there is an after word by Dennis Lee that says, "It's a book we have sorely missed." The Toronto Star also had written "In truth, you couldn't ask for a better testament to creative energy than this inspiring and intriguing collection." Rave opinions have also been seen in Broken Pencil and Arc.
In 2001, some lucky audience was able to experience his reading at "Scream in High Park". So if you're looking for something to sit down with and divuldge, Di Cicco should be the book you're striving for.
