Di Biase launches electoral competition

Vaughan's current mayor announces he will run again to head the City above Toronto

By Francesco Riondino

He is everyone's fav-ourite, maybe for good luck or possibly because he is deeply familiar with the politics up in Vaughan, but nothing is certain. Michael Di Biase has decided to take the bull by the horns and has come out first in the campaign arena for the Mayor's seat in the "City above Toronto".
"I really love campaigning for elections. I love being in contact with the people, going door to door to talk with the citizens," explains Di Biase at the end of his announcement, who is running for the seventh time in the next Vaughn elections.
This time it's different as he begins from currently occupying the Mayor's chair and thus with a point ahead. "Surely," Di Biase says smiling under his subtle moustache that makes his character a bit retro and also sympathetic, "My electoral platform is fully written within 'Vaughan Vision 2007'. The expansion project of our city has already been approved from the city council and takes into consideration a series of objectives that can help better the quality of life for all citizens."
"From the time I was nominated Mayor, our municipality has gained important successes on local, national and international levels. We are changing from a small simple community to a prime urban reality," said Di Biase at the Hollywood Princess.
It is in this commercial and residential centre where Di Biase would like to concentrate his forces on: a new hospital, the bettering of transport in general, a major attention to art and culture, and the attraction of important industrial and commercial investments, where other than creating new employment positions it will help maintain low taxes for its citizens.
There were nearly 100 people that attended Di Biase's official announcement for candidacy. Among them were the seven founding members of the committee: Sam Ciccolini, Tony Varone, Mario Zuccaro, Dino Bottero, Ailyn Burrell, Eliana Di Biase and Les Fluxgold. "And more are coming on board everyday," emphasizes Ciccolini.
Di Biase officially thanked his family, who continue to support him in his political obligations. He explains, "It is double the work as both public administrator and campaign candidate, that continues and becomes more turbulent during the months leading up to the election."
For the moment there are no official candidates running against Di Biase. The usual informants talk about a possible launch from the Jackson family, perhaps the widower or daughter of Lorna.
The current Mayor is calm; the work comes after many years of consulting the region and his current stature that has gained him notoriety and appreciation for his decisions. "My obligations have always been, and will be to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Vaughan. It is within the light of development that on one hand takes into consideration the current existence of residents and those who are investing in our territory. It isn't easy, but I love competition," the mayor concludes.
