International Furniture Fair 2002

By

The Salone del Mobile in Milano is an important and influential event in the industry. It attracts millions of visitors each year from around the world and has grown to involve all parts of the city. Milano presents an ideal occasion to take the time, finally, to indulge your aesthetic tastes, breathing in the show's atmosphere, toasting it with a fabulous cocktail while surrounded by company of the press and a sea of eccentric artists.

The dominating design trend of the show overall is characterized by its simplicity and linearity which make an innovative statement in terms of materials and color. Sadly, the form itself is all too reminiscent of the 60's-70's.

The Salon itself is divided into an "inside" (the heart of the fair's exhibition space) and an "outside" sector. This latter comprises showrooms and shops, as well as the palazzo normally reserved for offices. These have been transformed into public areas, where guests wander freely through the showrooms to examine and even try out furnishings and decorator items, promoting a closer, more intimate relationship with the various objects, their creators and their manufacture.
