Keyspan USB 4 port mini-hub
By Alessandro Cancian
Credit-card sized and 1 cm thick, the Keyspan USB Mini-hub is the ideal solution for all laptop users who need to connect several peripherals to their mobile computers. Lightweight and easily carried, the hub offers all of the features of larger desktop hubs, with the added advantage that it fits inside your pocket with no problem.
The Keyspan gadget has as many as four USB ports for connecting any desired peripheral. In fact, most laptops currently on the market have two in-built USB ports, which may occasionally be insufficient. Palm PDA, external mouse, digital camera are frequently standard fare accompanying a laptop's wanderings. Of course, the addition of four ports substantially improves the situation, greatly assisting users in the simultaneous use of the various peripherals.
Using the mini-hub does not require any installation, even if one clearly needs to use an Operation System that can recognize USB ports (Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, Mac OS 8.0 or greater or Linux 2.4.1 or greater). One only needs to connect the hub to one's laptop via its short retractable cable and that's it. Elegant and functional.
The Keyspan mini-hub boasts support for both bus-powered and self-powered modes and features a low power consumption design. This means that the use does not necessarily require a connection to a power outlet, as the mini-hub can be powered by the laptop itself.
Negative aspects? Only if you don't own it.
The Keyspan gadget is available in 2 colours (silver and black) for US$49.
